What a shocker of a day! Indeed many of us on the EVE_NT team are still assimilating the information from CCP's most recent devblog and what impact that will have on us as an organisation along with many other community organisations who are in a similar position.
For those of you who may not know what we are talking about, see CCP's most recent Dev Blog here. While these changes do not directly effect the way EVE_NT operates as a gaming community dedicated to the promotion of In/Out of Game events, streamers and competitive EVEsports it does directly effect three of our sponsors, EVE bet, Trillionaire and EOH Poker due to the following change:
You may not transfer, sell or auction, or buy or accept any offer to transfer, sell or auction (or offer to do any of the foregoing), any content appearing within the Game environment, including without limitation characters, character attributes, items, currency, and objects, other than via a permitted Character Transfer as described in section 3 above. You may not encourage or induce any other person to participate in such a prohibited transaction. You may not use, transfer or assign any game assets for games of chance operated by third parties. The buying, selling or auctioning (or any attempt at doing so) of characters, character attributes, items, currency, or objects, whether through online auctions, newsgroups, postings on message boards or any other means is prohibited by the EULA and a violation of CCP's proprietary rights in the Game.
As of 1100 UTC on November the 8th these sites will officially be required to cease and desist in their operations and those sites, along with any like them will be shut down for good. This will undoubtedly cause a significant shake up in the way content creators are able to fund their in-game and out of game activities. For example, EVE-Bet has provided almost two trillion ISK to content creators such as Hendrick Tallardar, Alekseyev Karrde (Declarations of War Podcast), EVE News 24, Crossing Zebras, Bombers Bar, a whole host of streamers and over 120 individual events/competitions both in and out of game held over the last year.
So how does this effect EVE_NT you may be asking right now? Well, not too much! We at EVE_NT will still be supporting player event organisers all over the United Kingdom and beyond to promote and organise their events. We will still be running the EVE_NT Championship and we will still be striving to bring you CCP and Player Tournament events for your viewing pleasure.
However some sections of our operations will be effected; Our streaming and editorial sections most significantly, this change represents a considerable reduction in our in-game ability to incentivize content creators and enable them to organise in-game activities for the wider EVE community.
But never fear! The EVE_NT team are working on exploring what other options are open to us and will be looking to announce our plans going forward in the near future. As a dedicated community of enthusiasts we want to make sure we can continue to provide our additional services beyond our out-of-game events, tournaments and, if possible, help continue to reward those who contribute to the community.
So keep a look out on eve-nt.uk for more information in the near future!
