EVE: Valkyrie to be bundled with Oculus Rift

Image of EVE: Valkyrie to be bundled with Oculus Rift

EVE Valkyrie was all over the gaming news a few days ago. With the imminent lunch of the Oculus Rift Virtual Reality headset in the first quarter of 2016, it seemed the right time for Oculus to announce that EVE Valkyrie will be shipped as part of a pre-order package. For many who know the close ties CCP and Oculus have this is no surprise. But bundling the first specifically made Virtual Reality title with the launch of the Oculus will be a huge boon for the title.
EVE Valkyrie is being developed by the CCP team at their Newcastle offices. The team brought the latest build of Valkyrie to EVE Nottingham last September and I had the chance to try it out 3 or 4 times. It is a fantastic experience. At the time I was using the Oculus Development Kit 2 headset which is now a couple of generations behind. I personally can't wait to get my hands on the production version of the oculus rift to see how the game looks with a higher resolution display.

CCP's latest video shows off a few glimpses of features yet to be announced including- Ship Customisation, various new types of weapons, the first shots of the support class repairing friendly ships and loads more. (You can read more about some of the features in this preview review over at Trusted Reviews)
One of my favourite new features mentioned is the 'Scout Mode', a new game mode which gives you the opportunity to just fly around with your spaceship in VR, doing a little bit of exploration of the various structures. For me this is a fun addition to the game because on my 2/3rd go with the game all I wanted to do was fly around the maps and take in the massive scale of everything.
While a final price point of the Oculus has yet to be announced I am busy waiting for the system requirements to run Valkyrie so I can start poking some PC Building friends.
